Poelstra Properties specializes in buying, selling, managing and analyzing post office buildings.  Poelstra Properties also focuses its attention on negotiating the leases associated with the post office buildings.  The post office lease is an integral part of the building.  The leases unique characteristics have resulted in a specialized market for post office buildings.  Poelstra Properties has filled this unique nitch market for many years.

Gary L. Poelstra formed Poelstra Properties in 1977. Originally known as Poelstra Financial, which engaged in Post Office buildings as tax sheltered investments, the company soon expanded into a nationwide real estate brokerage firm specializing in the acquisition, sale and lease of United States post office buildings and other government leased properties. Poelstra Properties also specializes in lease negotiation and property financial management. Gary serves numerous domestic and international clients.

 In 1997, Gary was elected president of the Association of United State Postal Lessors (AUSPL), the only recognized association for postal lessors. Under his leadership, membership increased dramatically, along with benefits including an insurance program tailor made for postal lessors. Gary has fostered rapport with USPS and increased USPS presence at AUSPL’s annual conference. After fourteen years as AUSPL President, Gary stepped down but continued as a member of AUSPL Board of Directors, to manage and persue his and his clients Post Office investments. 

 Since CBRE was contracted to preform leasing negotiations for the USPS, Gary has negotiated over 200 leases with CBRE.  Both on his own buildings and his many clients.  He has negotiated leases both big and small, each one analyzed to determine the best course of action to achieve the best results. Gary works with both the client and CBRE to come to an mutually beneficial lease.

 Postal lessors respect Gary because of his integrity, knowledge and experience. He knows how to get maximum benefits for them. Gary owns multiple post offices nationwide, alone and in partnership, because he knows post offices are a secure real estate investment -- the tenant will never “skip town.

 

Renee Poelstra Farman is a broker associate for Poelstra Properties, specializing in buying and selling USPS properties for the firm. Renee graduated in 2003 from San Diego State University with a BA in Communications and emphasis in Journalism. Shortly after graduating college, Renee decided she wanted to start working for the family business and follow her Father’s footsteps in this unique niche market of commercial real estate. Renee earned her real estate salesperson license in 2003 and broker’s license in 2013 and is also a broker in the residential side of real estate, as well.

­­Jeanne Arand has a BS degree from Cal Poly, Pomona in Business Management.  Jeanne was hired by Gary to work for the AUSPL in 2001.  While working for the AUSPL Jeanne filled many roles including, office manager and AUSPL insurance agent.  When the AUSPL moved in AZ Jeanne stayed with Gary as his assistant.  Jeanne researches the post offices that Gary is negotiating to help determine what the building is actually worth.  Jeanne owns three post offices with her family and uses the vast knowledge she has acquired, over the past 14 years, to manage her buildings and help Gary manage his and his clients.
